Intro

Editing heavy 4k footage could be a challenge if you don't have an appropriate system configuration. Fortunately, nowadays we have powerful enough laptops to these stuff...

Let's start...

In this story, we will have a quick look at the  best laptop  configuration for video editing.

Graphics Card

For it to be the best video editing laptop, you'll want something with a discrete graphics card. Nvidia's GeForce GTX 1060 GPU is one of the cheapest/best GPU for video editing, that starts at around $1,099.

CPU/Processor

To process the heaviness of rendering and extraction of high quality video you laptop "should" have a powerful CPU. AMD Ryzen 9 CPU, Intel Core i7-11375H or Intel Core i9-9900K  are some processors that'll well serve your purpose of video editing. For Intel processor, i9 and for AMD, Ryzen 9 CPU are the best. Also, you should consider the latest version of these CPUs.

RAM

32GB. This is the optimal capacity of RAM a computer needs for video editing. 32GB will allow you to edit all kinds of files, and you will be able to work with longer videos. With 32GB RAM, you could have multiple programs running at the same time, and still be able to efficiently edit and preview your videos.

Storage/SSD

As HHD are slower is performance, I intenionally removed HHD from the list. SSD could be slightly expensive but an SSD is a crucial part of any video editing workstation. Editing video is very data-intensive, and a traditional hard drive simply won't cut it. SSD will allow you to open and save files much faster, which is essential for real-time editing.

Resolution

Resolution is a fairly straightforward specification with several levels available, all defined by the width by height (WxH) in pixels. The most common are:     - High Definition: 1920x1080. This is also known as full high definition (FHD) or 1080p   - Apple Retina*: 2880x1800   - 4K: 3840x2160. This is sometimes referred to as Ultra High Definition or UDF
